How we manage Sustainability
Sustainability is a shared responsibility. It is embedded in different business functions, with clear responsibilities and regular senior management oversight.
The Global Sustainability Team coordinates and drives corporate sustainability at STADA and oversees progress on our key ESG topics and commitments. In these dedicated program areas, the leads from the respective business functions – HSE, Packaging, C&P, Communications, Compliance and Responsible Procurement – are responsible for their topics and development.
The main body for steering sustainability is the Sustainability Steering Committee (SSC), which includes members of the Executive Board and the STADA Executive Committee. The SSC sets and evaluates the strategic direction and priority topics, confirms targets and monitors progress, with the CEO, Peter Goldschmidt, holding ultimate responsibility for ESG matters.
In addition, specific committees address topics such as human rights and Responsible Procurement.
Materiality Assessment – what it is and why it matters
Before we set out our ESG strategy, adjust measures or report on sustainability, we carry out a “Double Materiality Assessment” (DMA).
“Double” means we look at two things:
- Impact Materiality: how our business affects people and the environment and
- Financial Materiality: which sustainability topics could create risks or opportunities for STADA.
How we do it: Together with different STADA functions, we discuss and evaluate which sustainability topics they see as important and what has changed compared to the previous year. We then add external views and compare ourselves with peers.
As a result:
We identify the ESG topics and IROs – meaning the main impacts we have, the risks we face and the opportunities we can use – that matter most. This helps us:
- focus our decisions and reporting
- align our plans and targets with expectations
- be more transparent
We carried out our first ESRS‑compliant DMA for 2024 and updated it for 2025.
Our sustainability strategy – how we put this into practice
We turn our priorities into clear goals and actions through seven sustainability program areas:
- They structure our work on sustainability.
- They cover all important topics from the DMA and ESRS and reflect our purpose, values and business practices.
- Each area has specific targets, actions and clear ownership in the relevant group function
